jazzahead! showcases 2020
program: Large ensembles and female empowerment
The two main themes
which emerge from the application round for the 40
showcase slots at jazzahead! 2020 are: an impressive
selection of large ensembles and for the very first time,
a very substantial number of bands led by women.
In the 40 short showcase concerts, the artists selected
will be performing for an audience largely consisting of
festival programmers, bookers and record label
representatives. So the trade fair is not just an
important platform for networking, it is also an event
where bands are booked on the spot, and contracts are
agreed. This year, the four international juries have
had a heavier workload than ever: their task has been to
listen to, rank and discuss a total of 816 applications
from 50 countries (2019: 764). You
can read the entire program here.
Registrations for the fair are still possible.
jazzahead! matchmaking – Registration starts
jazzahead! has again teamed up with Enterprise
Europe Network Bremen to offer the jazzahead!
matchmaking service to all professional participants
and (co-)exhibitors. What is a matchmaking?
• Bilateral meetings that are a quick and easy way to
meet new potential service providers and cooperation
partners • Attendees meet and greet in 20-minute
intervals, then the bell rings and the next meeting
begins • Instead of holding business meetings by
chance, our matchmaking sessions guarantee booked
meetings at reserved tables More information on
service and registration is available here. For
questions regarding the matchmaking service,
contact Ole Bast of EEN Bremen.
Bilateral speed meetings enter the third round:
German-Canadian speed meetings
Targeted discussions between participants from
Germany and the partner country will take place again
in 2020, on Friday, 24 April. These scheduled short
talks are intended to strengthen bilateral trade
relations between players from Germany and Canada and
facilitate the exchange of contacts and services in
the jazz field. jazzahead! organizes these meetings in
cooperation with the Hamburg-based agency Factory 92.
