This panel seeks to encourage the importance of collaborations and knowledge exchange, in order to achieve an inclusive and long-term sustainable future for jazz musicians in Europe. In post-pandemic Europe, jazz scenes gradually returned to their everyday activities. While many musicians resumed their regular activities, others continued to struggle for regular work opportunities, given the inequalities of a still persistent male dominant jazz in Europe. This panel, convened by the platform Voice for Jazz Musicians in Europe (VJME), brings together a variety of studies and three creative approaches to different challenges addressing jazz & gender and working conditions among jazz musicians. ‘A sustainable future for jazz?’, therefore, builds on transnational collaboration to promote diversity and creative intercultural experiences through cultural learning. It aims to stimulate the sharing of good practices and successful case studies within specific European jazz scenes
