After hearing Montreal pianist François Bourassa in 2018, Steve Swallow and Carla Bley took the trouble to write to him personally: “We were both moved by the music you and the quartet made…a wondrous piece of work…it’s thoroughly refreshing to hear music that forces players to stretch to the limit.” With ten albums of original music and multiple awards Bourassa is now an international ambassador for Canada’s thriving jazz community. Inspired by a diversity of sources, his award-winning quartet has been a staple of Montreal’s artistic landscape for more than 25 years. Since its inception, the group has featured bassist Guy Boisvert, saxophonist André Leroux and more recently drummer Guillaume Pilote.François Bourassa (p), André Leroux (sax, fl, cl), Guy Boisvert (db), Guillaume Pilote (dr)
