“I want to bring people together with music, express something beautiful – not so much from the head,” says Itamar Erez. And the guitarist-composer’s music does indeed have a sensitivity that touches listeners profoundly. Its unique sound blends Middle Eastern music’s delicacy, the freedom found in jazz and the passion of flamenco. Erez was born in Israel, studied composition in Cologne, London and then back in Jerusalem, and is based in Vancouver.Ralph Towner: “You are a great addition to the few of us who play both piano and classical guitar and compose!” And John Zorn: “I really dug your band…great writing…and you are a fabulous player… congratulations again on the beautiful music.”Itamar Erez (p, g), Francois Houle (cl), Jeff Gammon (db), Kevin Romain (dr)
