Oud and guitar player Jussi Reijonen’s transcultural five-part suite “Three Seconds | Kolme Toista” has been heralded as one of the best albums of 2022. “A stunner. […] a single, unified, diverse, overwhelming statement. The variety of ethnicities and instruments makes for a unique, heady mix” (JazzTimes). “Spellbinding, creates a new, genre-less form” (AAJ). Truly the product of a world without frontiers, Reijonen grew up in Finland, Jordan, Tanzania, Oman, Lebanon and the US soaking in the sounds, sights, scents and shades of Nordic, Middle Eastern, African and American cultures. Joining him are trumpeter Jason Palmer, drummer Vancil Cooper, bassist Kyle Miles; trombonist Bulut Gülen, pianist Utar Artun; violinist Layth Sidiq; cellist Naseem Alatrash; and percussionist Keita Ogawa.
