“Kathrine Windfeld is a rising star of the European jazz scene, not least for her bold writing for her adventurous big band” wrote Stuart Nicholson in 2017. Since then she has gone on to win the 2020 “Rising Stars Jazz Award – European Edition” which involved a tour of seven top European festivals. Windfeld’s breathtaking compositions thrive on a rare combination of delicacy and strength: a colourful meeting of sophisticated harmonic passages, driving grooves and poetic ballads that float into her explosive arrangements. Windfeld’s handpicked big band of 15 young, excellent Scandinavian musicians effortlessly combine playful precision with enthusiastic power.André Bak (tpt), Rolf Thofte Løkke (tpt), Magnus Oseth (tpt), Göran Abelli (tb), Tobias Stavngaard (tb), Anders Larson (tb), Hannes Bennich (alto sax), Magnus Thuelund (alto sax), Roald Elm (tenor sax), Ida Karlsson (tenor sax), Aske Drasbæk (baritone sax), Kathrine Windfeld (p, comp, arrangements), Viktor Sandström (g), Johannes Vaht (db), Henrik Holst Hansen (dr)
