Léon Phal is part of a young generation of jazz musicians whose work has been inspired and influenced by the standards but also by the 2000’s soul, hip hop and electronic music artists. He’s a marvelous example of what we love most about this new jazz scene: a free and dynamic interpretation of music, combined with solid references. Léon is characterized by a freshness and a talent he displayed in festivals like Nancy Jazz Pulsations and Jazz à Vienne, where he won the 2019 prizes. Praised as a rising star by Jazz News and Jazz Magazine for the release of his first album, Léon Phal leads a brilliant quintet, whose influences and bright imagination inspire remarkable improvisations. His second album, “Dust to Stars”, released in 2021, explores styles like house, afrobeat or drum’n’bass. A real dance machine with a soul. A jazz whose influences and colors touch everyone’s musical sensitivity, demystifying the access to the genre. In 2022, he will release 2 new tracks on the “Past & Future” compilation of Heavenly Sweetness.Léon Phal (alto sax), Gauthier Toux (keys), Zacharie Kysk (tpt), Arthur Alard (dr), Rémi Bouyssière (db)
