Guitarist Oddrun Lilja has been described by Norwegian daily newspaper Vårt Land as “a rising star in the Norwegian jazz sky”. A participant at top level, for example in Frode Haltli’s Avant Folk or in Bugge Wesseltoft’s New Conceptions of Jazz, she is also determined to cast her net for inspiration more widely, notably from “the people, the cultures and the music traditions I get to meet when I travel. I am fascinated to see how many different lives there are in the world, and also to see how similar all people are, if you cut to the core.” Her debut “Marble” (2020/ Jazzland) was described as Norway’s “most uncynical album” and has been widely praised for its warmth, depth and optimism.
