Los Aurora is a flamenco-jazz group which is creating a stir within Spain and internationally because of the way its members are breathing new life into flamenco: their approach is both daring and highly individual. Flamenco as a genre has lost its fear of fusing with other aesthetics, but there is nothing quite as theatrical or as transgressive as Los Aurora. The Flamenco “cantaor” Pere Martínez and his group have a sound which has its origins in flamenco, has moved towards jazz, both genres being part of the DNA of this exciting young group. However, just like a dancer, they have taken their own daring leap, and it has taken them somewhere very different from the more formalized and restrained sound-world of original Flamenco.Pere Martinez (voc), Max Villavecchia (p), Javier Garrabella (b-g), Joan Carles Mari (d), Jose Manuel Álavarez (dancer)
