The Paris-based trio La Litanie des Cimes (The Litany of the Peaks) was formed in 2019 by violinist Clément Janinet with Élodie Pasquier on clarinets and Bruno Ducret on cello. They play movements with long arcs in seemingly slow tempos. In this trio, improvisation is free and introspective – but not reclusive. Harmonies are exchanged, retraced. This very open music might sound like the soundtrack of a disaster movie about the end of the world, heard from the tops of tall trees. The trio perform music from their new, second album for the Hungarian label BMC, to be released in September 2023. There is also a version with an interactive visual installation by light designer Sam Mary to be premiered in Paris.
