“It’s hard to understand why Xênia França is not well-known in Europe. She’s the most exciting new female singer-songwriter to come out of Brazil in decades [..] who has earned a passionate following [..] with her sharp, sophisticated, self-penned virtuoso songs and her effortlessly cool contemporary Afro-Brazilian image” (Songlines). França, from Bahia province, is also an international fashion model (Chanel, …) and a reference for black female empowerment. “Her voice sailed through every syncopation as she danced” (New York Times). Her debut album “Xênia” (2018) was nominated for two Latin Grammys, and the follow-up “Em Nome da Estrela” is “mesmerising” (Chicago Reader).
Xênia França (voc), Ricardo Braga (percs), Pipo Pegoraro (g), Daniel Pinheiros (dr), Fábio Leandro (keys) · Robinho Tavares (b)
