CRUTCHES (DE)

CRUTCHES was formed by experimental songwriter and guitarist Jan Frisch and carries the spirit of Leipzig, the most musically rebellious German jazz scene. He is joined by notoriously versatile keyboardist Olga Reznichenko, the ferocious drums of Valentin Schuster, and the free experimentation of the newest member, multi-instrumentalist/singer/reciter Laure Boer, who is inspired by noise music and traditional folk. Together they create a musical hybrid of chamber jazz and elevator punk designed to "sandblast settled habits of reception, to sharpen contrasts between the static and droney with the unforeseen and unhinged while, every once in a while, pulling the occasional leg."   Line-up: Olga Reznichenko (keytar; synths), Jan Frisch (g, b), Laure Boer (elecs), Valentin Schuster (dr)
