Jazz made in Germany

Since 2012, all measures to improve the networking of the German jazz scene in Germany and beyond have been taken under the label German Jazz Expo . In addition to the eight showcase concerts, this includes a central trade fair presence, the German Market.

Improvisation & Jazz for children of primary school age

Professional program "Improvisation & Jazz for children of primary school age"

"Improvisation & Jazz for Children" will remain part of the professional program of the jazzahead! trade fair and will get a new orientation in 2023. For the fifth time, a program "Improvisation & Jazz for Children" will be held as part of jazzahead! in Bremen. The conference format will be broken up next year and the program will be integrated into the trade fair's professional program in modular form. However, the focus will remain on improvisation and jazz for elementary school-aged children. A children's concert showcase format is also being planned again. Other program components will include best practices, inputs and workshops.

For our program we are currently still looking for:

- interactive children's concert formats for presentation in a 30-minute showcase concert for students and professional audiences
- workshop formats
- Scientific contributions

Submissions please in the form of a project outline of the concert format or an abstract of the presentation / workshop until January 11th 2023 via mail to

Criteria for the selection of the showcase format

Who is the target audience of the showcase format? - Definition of the target groups!
The concert format must be aimed at an elementary school age audience. We are looking for formats that take place or have taken place in school and in other contexts.

What is the focus? - Improvisation as the core element!
Improvisation is in the foreground. Projects are welcome to include other skills and creative fields (such as the movement component). There is no requirement for instrumentation.

How should the access be? - Low-threshold!
We are looking for offers that do not require any previous musical training and are as linguistically barrier-free as possible.
